The Concept of Evil (published on Kindle) seems to be taking The Lord of the Rings apart in order to understand what it is about. Gandalf warns against just this sort of thing. "He that breaks a thing to find out what it is, has left the path of true wisdom."
The problem is, it is so interesting. To analyse the concept of evil in the book is a way to "come closer to the text" and Tolkien fans will love it.
Tolkien was a Catholic and his beliefs must have coloured the way he looked at the world and the book seeks to relate the way evil is presented in The Lord of the Rings to real-world moral issues.
So it will probably appeal to people who want to think about moral issues too.
Anyhow it is pretty cheap so why not read it anyway :)
